Reminder: BFS Awards 2007 - voting deadline looming
Just a quick memo to fellow members of the British Fantasy Society to remind you all that the deadline for voting in this year's BFS Awards is next Wednesday, August 1st, so get your postal ballots sorted out over the weekend or complete the online form, if you haven't done so already. I sent mine in this week (he says, virtuously) and I'm looking forward to the annual round of cheering and friendly barracking that is the awards dinner at Fantasycon, where I think Pete Crowther might be roping me into hosting a table on behalf of PS Publishing (cough Best Small Press Category cough), or something...

Oooooh, that's a nasty cough you have there. Have you taken any benylin? ;-)
The coughing will be twice as loud after October... :)
... erm, September you mean?
It's been mooted on the Shocklines board whether the term "small press" is counter-productive and in a away I agree: I like small press for the cosy, quaint image it portrays but I prefer independent press myself.
PS must be on the same level has Subterranean or Nightshade in the US surely?
I meant that after October I'd have two UK independent press clients to cough for... :)
And I heartily agree that 'independent press' is a much better moniker than 'small press', which may have been appropriate when the defining factor was literally the size of your company's printing press, but not any more, surely. It's not like the music industry is full of 'small labels', is it?
As for the wording on the BFS Award category... don't get me started (again...)
Right, forgot... I think I'll be needing the benylin. ;-)
I may actually go to the AGM this year...for once.
Ah, yes. The AGM that the BFS takes oh, so seriously, by always holding it on the Sunday morning when everyone really feels like attending... has anything useful ever come out of one of those sessions?
